The state-appointed panellists for the Hunter and Central Coast region are: Jason Perica (Chair), Kara Krason and Michael Leavey. For a list of all alternate members, please click here

Jason Perica (Chair)
Jason Perica brings over 28 years of expertise in planning matters, gained across local, state government and the private sector, including as Director of City Planning at the City of Sydney. He has held senior positions within the City of Sydney, Mosman and South Sydney Councils and has had strategic and statutory roles with Rockdale and Woollahra Councils. In addition, Jason was Executive Director of Strategic Sites and Urban Renewal with the NSW Department of Planning.
 
Jason holds a Bachelor of Science (Architecture) from the University of NSW and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Sydney. Residing in Sydney, he is currently Director of Perica and Associates Urban Planning Pty Ltd.
 
Kara Krason 
Kara Krason has more than 20 years experience working as a planner in local government, private practice and property. Kara is the Director of planning consultancy Liveability Planning Strategy which provides strategic planning advice and development assessment services for regional and state significant development. Kara is also an independent expert member on the City of Sydney Small Permits Appeals Panel and a member of the Lane Cove Council Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel.

While Kara works across a broad spectrum of land uses, her specialisation is in regionally significant residential and mixed use development, policy development and planning innovation. Kara holds a Bachelor of Town Planning (Hons) degree from the University of New South Wales, is a Certified Practicing Planner and Member of the Planning Institute of Australia and resides in Sydney.

Michael Leavey

Michael Leavey has 30 years of experience in planning, working for State government, local councils and in private practice. Michael lives and works in the Central Coast area, and is the principal of Michael Leavey Consulting. Michael was previously Regional Director for the Hunter & Central Coast Region at the Department of Planing and Infrastructure for six years, and Regional Director for the Central Coast for two years before that. Michael has worked in senior positions with local government in the Central Coast, Sydney and regional Queensland.

Michael received his Bachelor of Town Planning (First Class Honours) from the University of New South Wales in 1987.

Alternates
If a permanent member has declared a conflict of interest, or is unavailable for a meeting, an alternate can be selected from a pool of alternates who act for all regions.  For a list of all alternate members, please click here
